WHAT IS A CAR TRACKER AND HOW IT WORKS?
A car tracker is also known as a GPS tracker i.e., Global Positioning System tracker. These are special devices made for vehicle owners in order for them to monitor their cars, motorbikes and trucks etc. other than that, they can also be used for vehicle fuel tracking, vehicle theft alerts, engine kill and can alert many drivers when they drive above the required speed limit.
A tracker uses micro-waves to connect with a network of satellites to determine the location of the car wherever it may be, the signals are transmitted at 1/360 of a second to the GPS of the vehicle which further passes on the info to the car tracker, simultaneously.

WHERE DO I LOOK FOR A GPS TRACKER IN MY VEHICLE?
Firstly, one should know what a tracker looks like in general in order to check for it, the size of the tracker varies as it depends on the manufacturer’s idea. It is a small, cuboid shaped device that is 3 inches long and 1 inch thick around the sides just like a deck of cards. Many car trackers are installed under the interior car dashboard that is located at the passenger hand side. It can be either installed magnetically or using wires.
HOW TO DISABLE CAR TRACKERS?
Disabling a tracker can be done through two ways:
- Many trackers are battery operated and hence magnetic. One can wait for the battery to run out after a few weeks and for it to disconnect and simply not recharge it just like a cellphone requires. But if the need to do so is urgent, one can simply tug on the device and it will be pulled free of its position as there are no complicated wires surrounding the tracker’s exterior.
- Invite the same mechanic that installed the tracker to remove it as its connected to various wires all at once. The mechanic will first discontent all the wires present underneath the dashboard and remove tracker then the left-over wires will be re-connected. To check if everything is alright the driver should turn on ignition and see if the vehicle starts without any issues.
